The two-way trVN, Indonesia trade continues to go upade between Viet Nam and Indonesia was US$ 2.5 billion in the first 7 months of 2012, up 8% on-year, according to the Viet Nam Customs.

Viet Nam spent US$1.2 billion importing Indonesian products, down 1%, and exported over US$1.3 billion worth of goods to Indonesia, up 19%.

Viet Nam exported mainly steel, rice, phones and their components, crude oil, coffee, and plastic products to Indonesia, while importing mostly paper products, oil and chemicals.

Under a protocol signed on September 18 by the Vietnamese and Indonesian trade ministers, the memorandum of understanding on rice trade between the two countries in the 2010-2012 period will be extended to 2017. Accordingly, up to 1.5 million tons of white rice will be traded each year.
