The iIndustrial machinery expo opens in citynternational exhibition on plastics and rubber; packaging and printing; food technologies and automation 2012 opened on Wednesday at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, HCMC’s District 7.

Organized by Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad) and Chan Chao International Co., Ltd., the exhibition attracts over 230 enterprises with some 500 booths despite the current economic woes.

This year’s exhibition attracts the highest number of Vietnamese enterprises with 35% while the numbers of Taiwanese and Chinese enterprises account for 28% and 23% respectively.

Owing to coordination of the Vietnam Plastics Association (VPA) and the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA), the exhibition draws the participation of many members of the two associations, with 30 booths of VPA’s members and five booths of VRA’s members.

At the exhibition, there are also a lot of Taiwanese enterprises coming from associations such as the Taiwan Mold & Die Industry Association with eight booths and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry with seven booths.

According to some local producers, amid current economic conditions, purchasing low-price equipment and machines from China or Taiwan can cut investment costs compared to machines imported from Japan and European countries. In addition, the transport costs of products imported from nearby countries are lower and more convenient.

Meanwhile, participating enterprises said that industries featured at the exhibition were potential in Vietnam as the economy is growing.

The combined exhibition of above industries lasting until Saturday consists of VietnamPlas, VnPackPrint, VnFoodtech, VnPrintLabel and Linkage Vietnam 2012.
